Why UIC?
The Department of Biological Sciences offers groundbreaking research leading to the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biological Sciences. Areas of research include cell biology, development, restoration ecology, general ecology, evolution, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, neurobiology, and plant biology. The Interdepartmental Concentration in Neuroscience is available to qualified PhD students.
Please note that we typically do not admit M.S. students into the department. Rare exceptions are sometimes made with the support of individual faculty members, mostly for students applying to the E&E track.
