Registration Information For Summer 2018

There is no major restriction on 300-400 level BIOS courses in Summer semesters. As long as a student has the prerequisite to take the course, they should be able to register for SU18 courses in the BIOS department.

If you receive a Test Score/Prerequisite error, it is likely due to one of the following reasons:

  1. You are a non-degree seeking graduate student.
  2. You are an undergraduate student who has not sent final transcripts for a prerequisite course.

In the event that one of the above scenarios applies to you, please use your UIC email address to provide a screenshot or unofficial transcript of your grade in the required prerequisite course, along with your name, UIN, course number to biosciadvising@uic.edu starting Monday, April 2, 2018. The issuance of an override does not affect the time listed on the student’s Time Ticket.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR Fall 2018

Registering for Major-Restricted Courses (excluding BIOS 350, 351, and 352)
Students in the following majors may register for 300-400 level BIOS courses without overrides: Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Neuroscience, and Physics. All other students, including science minors, IHS majors, and students who have recently declared any of the above listed majors, are restricted from registering for all 300-400 level BIOS courses.

Students who wish to register for 300-400 level BIOS courses (except for BIOS 350, 351, and 352 – see below) will need departmental approval. Students may request approval to register for these courses beginning on April 19, 2018, which is the start of Continuing Registration. Students should not contact that Department of Biological Sciences prior to this date, as their requests will go unanswered. To request an override, students should email biosciadvising@uic.edu from their UIC email account with their name, UIN, and the course for which they need approval. Students will be notified of their approval within 2 business days.
